LaShannon Petit

 

Founder and owner of Styling Purpose, LLC. is a native Miamian born to the parents of Borgella Petit and Ernestine Mike-Petit.  She has a brother Travon Petit, who is a senior at Florida A & M University (FAMU). Education has always been paramount in the Petit household therefore; it is without a doubt that she would graduate with honors from Hialeah High School in 2001 and matriculate to FAMU to study business. LaShannon obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from FAMU in December 2005 and later a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Marketing and Management graduating Magna Cum Laude in August 2007. Not only did LaShannon receive a domestic education, she also traveled abroad completing an internship in Shanghai, China and a study abroad in the Dominican Republic. LaShannon received her Certificate in Accounting from Keller School of Management in October 2011.

LaShannon’s work history expands to career positions as a Junior Accountant, Staff Accountant and General Ledger Accountant for over three years. Her community involvement extends to being a proud member and served as an Assistant Financial Secretary of the Miami Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a lifetime member of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  LaShannon is an active member at New Birth Cathedral of Faith International, where she is a part of the Youth and Young Adult Ministries.  In addition to these responsibilities, LaShannon is a volunteer wardrobe stylist at Dress for Success.

 

It is with education, work experience, community networking and an innate keen eye for fashion that Styling Purpose, LLC was birthed. May 2011 marks the genesis of Styling Purpose, LLC a personal styling and shopping company.  Styling Purpose specializes in wardrobe styling, personal shopping, wardrobe assistance, fashion consultation, makeovers, creative directing for fashion shows and image building. Styling Purpose has had the opportunity to work with the following department stores: Avenue, Ashley Stewart and Intimacy Bra Stylists to raise funds and foster awareness for local non-profits. In addition, she has worked with Desiree Fleming, designer of Voluptuous You, designer Pat McGhee, Sunnie Morrison of First Class Productions, film directors Peter Pericles and R. Malcolm Jones and models “The Barbie Twins.” LaShannon has styled local gospel artists such as Sensere, Inger Hanna and Dre Marshall. The summer of 2012 Styling Purpose had the awesome opportunity to travel as a wardrobe stylist for Christian Recording Artist GIEL, as she opened for The Move Tour with gospel artists Jessica Reedy, The Ambassador, B Reith and Sean Simmonds. Since then, LaShannon has become GIEL’s lead wardrobe stylist and fashion consultant, dressing GIEL for music videos, performances and much more.

 

This year LaShannon has worked as a wardrobe stylist for Christian Fashion Week in Tampa, Fl and for the 21st Annual National Black Chamber of Commerce Convention 1st House Couture Fashion Show, as well as a lead style coordinator for Fashion Designers Expo Florida.  March of 2013, LaShannon appeared as Hot 105 radio personality Jill Tracey’s Love, Life and the 411 Glam Paparazzi for Jazz in the Gardens, acting as a style and entertainment correspondent. In addition to corresponding, LaShannon is a blogger for Notyouraveragemodel.blogspot.com a blog discussing faith, fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

 

As a small child LaShannon has always been taught to whom much is given much is required, Styling Purpose is committed to giving back to non-profits in which LaShannon have a close association with and/or strong belief in. As a result, Styling Purpose was featured in The Miami Times Business & Finance section in an article entitled, “Petit takes “fashionista” to a whole new level.” In addition to styling clients LaShannon is a public speaker, through her public speaking she gives tips on, what to wear and not to wear and what walking in your purpose looks like. She has had the opportunity to speak to Tracey Mourning’s girl group Honey Shine as well as the clients of the United Way Center for Financial Stability.  LaShannon has also made a guest appearance on Island TV.
